Your time in this existence is a depleting resource. Everyday we have slightly less.  Even in the best case scenario, we get about 100 years of it. Split that up into childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and then eventually, the twilight years. 

All your dreams, ambitions, relationships, and travels have to fit in that window. The tough part is we don’t get a 100 years to chase it. Mix in all the other unknowns. Sickness, tragedy, death, and fear all steal that time from us.

My point is this: make damn sure you are aware how you CHOOSE to spend yours.  Spend as much of it as you can doing things that keep that wild fire inside of you lit. If you don’t know what lights that fire, start trying everything you can.

While morbid, there is a documented sense of renewed spirit people get with a terminal prognosis (maybe a better word) from a doctor that reminds them the time is now. They get to living with an urgency, instead of waiting for time to pass by. 

I’m here to explain it bluntly. You are indeed dying.  My wake-up was at 31. I took that as a halfway marker. In the next 31 years, I’ll be on the gas as long as my machine will let me.  I want to reach places and people. I want to leave lasting impressions of who I am and what I stand for on the people I love. I want to give this life 100% of me. 

When my time runs out at some point in the unknown future, I plan to be completely empty of the energy to do more. I won’t die wondering about what if I took a risk, tried harder, loved more, or well rested. 

When that time comes. There isn’t bargaining. There is no buying more. Just the realization you didn’t do the most you could.

I recommend choosing now to get going. If you’re on a path you don’t love, change it. Change it today. Take one step toward what you dream about. Find new jobs. Get out of unhappiness, Start a hobby. Travel. Just start taking action.
